Meet Leisha Townson

Leisha Townson is a qualified counsellor, social worker and psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience. Her philosophy is that each individual has unique strengths, innate resilience and the ability to achieve emotional equilibrium. Leisha is passionate about social justice and the rights of every individual to a life filled with safety, recognition, inclusion, knowledge and connectedness and will help each person she works with to achieve these things in life.

Leisha's qualifications

Leisha has worked in government and non-government organisations in areas such as sexual assault and domestic violence, rehabilitation, palliative care, renal unit, veterans, women’s centres and carers. In 2007, in addition to working as Senior Counsellor at CarersNT, she established a part-time private practise operating under ‘Leisha Townson Professional Counselling and Consultancy Services.’ After a standing ovation at a presentation entitled ‘Recognising, Nurturing and Protecting the ‘Survivor Self’ (Coping and Resilience International Conference, Croatia, 2009), she also established, with a colleague, a business designed to providing the ‘Survivor Self’ concept training to professionals working in the areas of trauma and resilience. This was dismantled in 2012 after her move to Queensland in 2011. In 2016, she changed her business name to Boundless Counselling and Consultancy and has continued to operate successfully since.

Leisha has a passion for learning and is deeply committed to it. She is an international presenter and author who focuses on topics such as resilience, hope, coping, trauma and empowerment—many of the same principles she implements in her therapy sessions. With the additional training and awareness of narrative, music and art therapy, she has the ability and confidence to assist in finding the specialised approach for any individual or group. She reinforces the idea in her clients that even a single thread of hope can be very powerful in creating a strong foundation for positive change.

With her 25+ years of experiences, she has become accomplished in providing knowledgeable and effective supervision, mentoring and tutoring in addition to her counselling abilities. When you choose Leisha Townson, you know you’re getting the best! Call today for your free initial phone or Skype consultation.
